Calling all Swifties and Those Wanting to Break into a New 'ERA' of Listening

I recommend checking out the podcast Every Single Album hosted by Nora Princiotti and Nathan Hubbard. Every Single Album breaks down Taylor Swift's career as the hosts go through her entire discography; my favourite episodes are '1989' Every Single Album and 'Lover' Every Single Album. These links take you to Spotify, but you can watch through Apple Podcasts as well.

The podcast was initially called Every Single Album: Taylor Swift, but as the hosts explored albums by other artists, like Olivia Rodrigo, Adele, Harry Styles, and more, the name changed to simply Every Single Album. Swift, however, remains the podcast's mainstay as they discuss her life, The Eras Tour, and popular culture. I came across this podcast when the COVID-19 pandemic and stay-at-home orders were in effect. At the time, the podcast gave me something to look forward to weekly and became a part of my mental health walk regimen. Additionally, it was the first podcast that piqued my interest and immersed me in the world of podcasting. Now, I listen to experience a sense of belonging and community among the Swifties and prepare for the upcoming Eras tour that I am attending in November.

I am excited to be enrolled in this course as sound and music are part of my everyday life and help define who I am and form connections with others. For the group projects, I would be interested in undertaking a case study with my fellow class Swifties on Taylor Swift and how she has influenced the music industry. I am also interested in learning more about the relationships between music and memories or music and health.

  1. Hi Emma, I checked out the podcast and loved it! Thanks for sharing. I think it's interesting how this podcast could be seen as a form of assemblage, as I can assume that Nora Princiotti is a Taylor Swift fan and created this podcast to share her story and recount important details in her career.
