Blog Post 1!

Hi everyone!

For my first post I thought I would share a spotify playlist I made called "my 3rd generation iPod nano". This playlist started with me compiling all the songs that were downloaded from the iTunes store onto my 3rd generation iPod nano when I was younger, which is how I listened to music (either with headphones or connected to the dock on my clock radio). Over time tough, I began to add more songs I remembered hearing on the radio and elsewhere from that time period.

The songs on this playlist give me a sense of nostalgia as they remind me of happy memories from when I was little and would listen to music with my family and friends. I didn't have too many songs on my iPod, so I would listen to the same 20 songs over and over again, so hearing those specific ones definitely gives me nostalgia from that time.

This course interested me because I love to listen to music and podcasts, and I thought the topics in the course description would make for a really interesting seminar. I'm not sure what I want to do for my group project yet, but I might like to do something where I can explore different genres of music!

Enjoy the playlist!

  2. Hello! It was interesting reading your post and I can definitely relate to it. I also had an Ipod nano when I was younger. It is interesting to look back and think about how we had to buy songs on iTunes and now we have subscriptions on Spotify/Apple Music. In my post I talked about how my first CD was an album by Rihanna. I would listen to this album all the time and now when I hear songs from this album, I get a sense of nostalgia. It also reminds me of happy memories from when I was younger as well as my family and friends.

  3. Hi! This post was great and made me reflect on a sort of similar experience. I now use Spotify which is great but when I was in elementary I used apple music. I can now always look back at the songs that I liked enough to spent 99 cents on, and its honestly way more than it should be, although it was a shared account between me and my sibling its crazy to see how we spent 100 dollars on just songs to listen too. Some songs I even listen to today but sadly songs like Gucci Gang aren't as timeless as I thought. It does give me a great feeling of nostalgia because im slowly remembering how and why I downloaded these songs and most come from moments spent with friends and family. Great post, thanks for sharing!

  4. Hi Caitlyn, great post! I took a listen to your playlist and it really made me reminisce about having an iPod nano and shows me songs that I have not heard ion years. However after listening to this playlist, it made me realize songs are not made like this anymore. Most of these songs seem taylor made for clubs or partying, while songs nowadays seem to be made more for listening by urself or in the car.
